These are both 30 minute flying experiences and follow the same flight plan – the difference being that at the beginning of the Gold Plus experience you will enjoy that magical moment when the Merlin is fired up, and then as the Scramble! Bell is rung, you’ll make your way to board your executive helicopter. Your helicopter will then be positioned to enable you to see the aircraft take off from the airfield, before joining her in flight at the start of the event.
The Gold Premium experience does not include the Scramble sequence, and flights will take off at different times from the Hurricane. Once airborne, both flights are the same.
Once seated comfortably, you’ll take off and join your aircraft in flight. The Hurricanefly within waving distance of you during the flight (see Gallery) and you can pass requests for the pilot to position their aircraft for that perfect photo shot – you are truly in charge of your own ‘remote control’ Hurricane!
When your aircraft are synchronised in flight, you’ll make your way to the sites of the Battle of Britain airfields of Lympne and Hawkinge. You are now flying in the airspace that some of the most intense aerial fighting took place, which makes it even more poignant to see the Hurricane fly with the Battle of Britain Memorial as the backdrop below. As you fly down the coast, you will be moved by the sight of the aircraft on one side and the French coast on the other – just seven minutes Hurricane time away! Put yourself in the position of a young fighter pilot at that time – imagine the emotions he must have experienced in those moments before he flung his machine into battle
Flying from the Memorial, you will then soar along the coast taking in Samphire Hoe, Dover harbour, Dover Castle, the famous Twin Sisters aerials that formed part of the chain radar that were intrinsic to the successful outcome of the Battle of Britain. Then you will see the White Cliffs of Dover – which as a backdrop to the Hurricane could not be a more emotive sight – these are the most remarkable opportunities you will ever have for air to air photography with the legendary Hurricane.
Flying on, the South Foreland lighthouse comes into sight, sitting proudly on the clifftop – this is the turning point on your flight, and again provides another magical backdrop.
Flying back along the coast, the aircraft will continue their specially choreographed routines culminating in the signature barrel roll around the helicopter. This precision manoeuvre has been specially developed by Dave Harvey and is only performed by him in the Hurricane, and is done exclusively for Platinum and Gold Plus flights.
On your return, you will be presented with a framed picture of the Hurricane and our helicopter, to be taken away as a memento of your time with us. This along with your own photographs will make a marvellous display and help you remember what will have been the Ultimate Gift Experience – never to be forgotten.
This will be a spectacle that you will remember for the rest of your life!
Please allow about 2 hours for this experience, of which at least 30 minutes is flying in the company of the Hurricane.

Aircraft Ground Viewing Experience!
Why not extend your flying experience, and enjoy a viewing of the aircraft from your flight?
During the maintenance / re-fuelling breaks we are able to offer a small group of people the opportunity to view the Hurricane at close quarters, seeing the aeroplane as close as one could possibly wish for – ideal for enthusiasts, model makers, and photographers.
The viewings are also in the company of the pilots flying that day, and this is an excellent opportunity to ask them questions about the flying aspects of the aircraft, and about their own flying experiences.
One of our pilots, Dave Harvey, has had over 20 years Hurricane flying experience, so this is a wonderful opportunity to talk to a real expert. These viewings are available to both flyers and accompanying friends and family members.
Availability is limited, and pre-booking is essential.
Duration: 20 minutes
Cost: £50.00 per person (inc.VAT)
Tickets are sold on an ‘open’ basis – they are valid from now until October 31st, 2012. You can chose to book a date to fly, or at another time, especially if the ticket is a gift.
